Cosmos, or Kosmos, meaning "decoration, order and harmony of the universe" is a wildflower native to Mexico and South America. The seeds smuggled their way into South Africa in imported horse feed during the Anglo Boer war of 1899. Since then, the delicate flower has established itself in the South African landscape as a much-loved part of the scenery.
