The Spotted Eagle Owl has a wingspan of about 1m and weighs in at around 700g. He has excellent vision and acute hearing ability, which make it possible for him to catch prey in almost total darkness. And this is necessary, because not only does he have a huge appetite, his partner - with whom he mates for life - will often need him to feed her and the little ones throughout their nesting months as well.
